Dear sir/madam, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to express my interest in the position of System Engineer - Grid Scale Battery Energy Storage at Kx Power in the UK. I believe that my skills and experience align perfectly with the requirements of this role, and I am confident that I can make a significant contribution to your research and development efforts. My name is Shehzar Shahzad Sheikh, and I am from Pakistan. I hold an undergraduate degree in BS Electrical Engineering (Power) and recently earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), the top-ranked university in Pakistan. During my master's program, I achieved an 'Excellent' rating for my thesis, which was recognized as the top thesis overall, and maintained a CGPA of 3.40/4.00. Furthermore, I have presented seven research articles in prestigious international IEEE conferences and the Institute of Physics (IOP). I was awarded a research assistantship at the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCASE) for a collaborative research project with Arizona State University. Working under the guidance of Dr. Syed Ali Syed (SMIEEE, Fulbright Georgia Tech Ph.D.), I conducted research on impedance spectroscopy of batteries and explored battery health monitoring using machine learning techniques. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with NASA datasets for estimating and monitoring the state of health. My master's thesis involved the development of a real-time microgrid using FPGA, specifically FlexRIO, which I believe will be valuable for my future doctoral studies. In parallel with my academic pursuits, I have been serving as an Aircraft Engineering Officer with the Pakistan Air Force since October 2019. In this role, I have been responsible for rectifications, factory level inspections of various aircraft, particularly in avionics and engine power plant areas, such as Phenom 100/E, Y12, and Piper M600/SLS aircraft. I have also gained experience in manpower management as a Commander. The research area of energy storage for smart grids has always fascinated me. For my Ph.D., I aim to focus on addressing the significant challenges associated with the implementation and development of more accurate and efficient methods for energy storage in electric vehicles and grid-scale applications. These challenges are essential for smart grids to overcome renewable intermittencies and other grid-related issues. I have observed limited available research on dynamic battery health analysis related to the grid, and I would love to discuss potential research possibilities with you in the near future. I have attached my Curriculum Vitae and Transcripts for your reference. Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I would be delighted to discuss matters further via Skype or any other convenient method. Thank you for considering my application. I appreciate your time and attention. Yours sincerely, Shehzar Shahzad Sheikh | Flight Lieutenant Pakistan Air Force | U.S. Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy, NUST Islamabad, Pakistan Contact: +92323 5600 328 Email: 17eeeshehzar@uspcase.nust.edu.pk
